Last week, three members of the CODCHANGE project travelled to Mallorca (Spain) to participate at the European Tracking Network (ETN) Symposium the days 16-18 of October. The ETN symposium is a platform to bring together scientists and stakeholders to discuss and share progress in understanding how aquatic species move and interact with their environment using telemetry. The second day of the meeting, our newest team member, Martina Martorell Barcelo (IMR), presented her research plans within WP1 of the project and gave a talk about phenotypic selection of cod in Skagerrak and novel research questions that could be answered using acoustic telemetry data from the Tvedestrand system. Senior researcher Esben Moland Olsen (IMR) presented his research on large females connecting
Atlantic cod spawning sites, who also won the best publication prize at the IMR annual meeting last June, and our Spanish partner David Villegas Rios (CSIC) presented his work on individual variation of cod behavior in response to temperature changes, using also telemetry data from Tvedestrand. The Symposium was a good opportunity for Martina, Esben and David to interact with all the vibrant community of the ETN and show what we are doing in Norway. Thank you so much for representing the CODCHANGE project abroad!
